My Quick and Flawless Go-To Makeup Look

In a recent Instagram story I shared some of the makeup and skincare products that I use daily. I finally got my act together and wrote a blog post to share some of my most-used items.

As many of you already know, I am an esthetician by trade. I work three days a week at a salon where I rent a room. I offer a variety of services including full body waxing, facials, and makeup applications. I’ve been in the industry for almost 7 years now, and I’ve had lots of opportunities to get tons of experience. One of the things that I get asked most often as a mom is “how do you get your makeup looking put together quickly in the morning?” And I totally get it. Because when you have a toddler running around, the amount of time you spend in front of the mirror in the morning has to be minimal.

Here’s my daily skin care and makeup routine

Skin Care:

First step is always to wash your face. If you shower in the morning then that is a great time to throw a little cleanser on your face. That way, when you get out all you have to do is tone and moisturize and you’re good to go. In the treatment room at work I use Clinical Care Skin Solutions, so that is what I do at home as well. I wash my face with Green Stuff, spray on Splash toner, and finish with a moisturizer. In the morning I use Sunshield because it has 25 SPF (having great skin later in life is ALL about prevention so SPF, SPF, SPF!!!). In the evening I use Drench because I have dry skin. If you have oily/acne prone skin, you can check out the products that would be best for you here.

Next up is foundation. Honestly, I switch up which foundation I use all the time, but I’m currently using Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ in the shade 25 Warm Ivory. The coverage is amazing and you can apply it with a brush or Beauty Blender. Most of the time I skip the Beauty Blender because I don’t have time, and I use the bareMinerals Precision Face brush. If you’re in a hurry, a brush is the best for saving time.

I have two concealers that I use. And I usually choose to use one or the other on a day-to-day basis. It just depends how bad my dark circles are…#momlife. The first one, the one I use most often, is bareMinerals Well Rested Eye Brightener. I know a lot of people are leery about powder concealers, especially in the under-eye area, but this stuff is awesome! It doesn’t collect in the fine lines, and it really helps cover any darkness. I apply it with a concealer brush. The second one is Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer (that’s a mouth-full). I usually put this stuff on before my foundation, and I put the Well Rested concealer on after my foundation. But both of them always go on before setting powder. Which brings me to my next point.

Setting Powder:

For a long time I never used a setting powder. And when I did, it was usually a translucent setting powder. Then I discovered MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. It’s life changing. I’d heard great things about it for years, but we don’t have a MAC anywhere near us, so I never got around to trying it. While we were on vacation about a year ago, I stopped in and had them color match me. I will never use another setting powder! This stuff is amazing, the coverage is perfect, and it has lasted me forever! I use the color Medium Plus.

After foundation it’s time to throw on a little bronzer and blush. I most often find myself using bareMinerals The High Dive bronzer with the Soft Focus Face brush. The brush is by bareMinerals, but I couldn’t find it on their website, so it probably has been discontinued. Any synthetic bronzer brush will work though. My go-to blush is NARS Orgasm.

Lately I’ve been really into the winged eyeliner look. It’s quick, and once you get used to it, it’s fairly easy. Most days I do the same thing on my eyes, because, most days, I don’t have time to fuss with it. In my Instagram story I did a matte eye using three colors from the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette. I finished the look with a winged eyeliner and mascara. I swear by Physician’s Formula 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in Ultra Black. It is the easiest one to use, in my opinion. And my all-time favorite mascara is Covergirl LashBlast Volume. I’ve tried so many high-end mascaras and I always end up coming back to this one. Although, recently I have been using Mally Beauty’s More Is More Mascara and I have been loving it! I will definitely be repurchasing it!

I always finish by filling in my eyebrows using Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade in the color Ebony. I apply it with a generic synthetic angle brush.

This might seem like a lot of steps to take in the morning, especially if you’re not a big makeup person. I can whip this makeup look out in under ten minutes. It only takes a little bit of practice before you can do this without thinking. And I know, some mornings you just don’t have time to spend thinking about makeup. And even if you don’t want to do all the steps, these are some great products, and they are definitely worth a try!

I want to mention that I am not sponsored by any of the products or brands mentioned and all opinions are my own. Thank you for reading, and please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Great beauty roundup! I love that you included a mix of high end products (NARS Orgasm is my go-to blush as well!) along with drugstore items. There is something here for any budget. Thanks for your suggestions!
