DIY Laundry Detergent

For years I used basically whatever was on sale at Costco for washing my family’s clothes. It was easy, and I didn’t have to think too hard. But I hated always having the little plastic cups for the liquid detergent floating around. Plus, I never felt like our clothes was all that fresh in the end anyway.

Ultimately, I didn’t really know what else to use, and a client suggested making it. I felt like trying something new, so I went for it, and I really loved the outcome.

Here is the recipe that I came up with. I feel like it’s the perfect combination of clean + fresh smelling and I’m never disappointed with our freshly washed laundry.

4 1/2 cups OxiClean

3 cups Borax

2 cups Super Washing Soda

3/4 cup Baking Soda

10 – 15 ounces of Downy Unstopables

Mix it all together and use 2 tablespoons per load.
