This recipe has been in our family for as long as I can remember. My grandma made it, my mom made it when I was growing up, and now I make it. And, according to my husband, it is the BEST banana bread EVER!

Here’s what you need:
1 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 beaten eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 c flour
3 tbsp sour milk (2 1/2 tbsp milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
3-4 mashed, over-ripe bananas
1/2 walnuts, chopped (optional)
In a mixer, combine shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and mix until combined.
Add bananas and dry ingredients.
Add the sour milk and beat until everything is well combined.
Stir in chopped walnuts.
Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and pour batter into loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour.
